I, Abu Hena Md. Mustafa Kamal, pursuing Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering with an emphasis in Power Electronics at Islamic University of Technology (IUT). The initiation of my formal electrical and electronic engineering education occurred when I enrolled for undergraduate and later on for postgraduate studies at IUT. I found this the best place to strengthen, cultivate and evolve my engineering knowledge. Basic and advanced engineering courses helped lay a solid foundation to my electrical and electronic engineering career. For M.Sc. degree requirements I have done my thesis with major focus on image processing in the field of biomedical engineering. In my thesis I needed to learn about software simulation, making various tissue models, working with experimental data and pragmatic decision making through simulation results. The analytical attributes and persistence required for such a research make me confident that I have the aptitude necessary to cope with the rigors of graduate research.
Throughout my undergraduate studies I remained steadfast in my resolve to attain excellence in academics and research. This resolve paid rich dividends and I graduated with a CGPA of 3.85 out of 4.00. After graduation, I had the opportunity of joining Aeronautical Engineering Department of Cambrian International College of Aviation as a Lecturer. Currently, I am working as a Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) of Institute of Science and Technology (IST), (Affiliated with National University of Bangladesh). I am teaching several engineering courses such as Industrial and Power Electronics, Biomedical Instruments, Control Systems, High Speed Telecommunication, Electronic Materials, Fundamentals of Communications, Digital Electronics-I, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Differential and Integral Calculus, Computer Architecture etc. in my seven years of teaching career. Now I am also acting as a coordinator of ECE department of IST. I find distinct joy in teaching as I see my students eagerly and proactively grasping on to various concepts. During the period of time as a faculty member I feel that my leadership qualities are developing and I am being able to motivate my students towards research and exploration. I believe my professional goals as an academic and researcher can be further realized upon attainment of post graduate degrees. As faculty member of the Dept. of ECE, IST, I have been actively involved in some research activities in the field of Power Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Nanotechnology, Renewable Energy etc. I realize that publication of research is paramount. I am trying to develop new publication ideas and proactively working with my colleagues for publications. I have co-authored two research papers in international journals, six research papers in local journals and six research papers in conferences.
