Lab Facilities for Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering Students
Institute of Science & Technology (IST), the first affiliated institution with National University, mainly focuses not only on theoretical education but practical knowledge also. To facilitate this mission, we have built a well-equipped lab for both the students and faculty members. IST has developed several labs for Electronics, Electrical, Communication, Computer Networking, Microprocessor, and Peripheral labs, etc. We offer lab facilities for the students at any time to work and practice so that they can practice and enrich their practical knowledge.
Physics Lab:
In our physics lab, students can experiment different theoretical phenomena like Ohm’s law, Kirchhoff’s Current Law, Kirchhoff’s Voltage law, etc. We also have a well-structure optics lab where a student can experiment on different optical theories. Our physics lab consists following instruments:

Electronics Lab:
Electronic devices have become an important part of our daily life. In our ECE program, we have several programs in electronics majors. But theoretical knowledge is not enough to understand the working principle of many electronic gadgets. Moreover, it is important to be able to design devices using electronic principles. So, to improve practical skills, we develop a modern electronics lab, which is equipped with many cutting-edge instruments. Some of these instruments are:
- Oscilloscope (Analog)
- Oscilloscope (Digital)
- Function Generator (Analog)
- Function Generator (Digital)
- Breadboard, Diode, Transistor, Op-amp, Zener diode, Thyristor, SCR, 74LS series IC
- NE-555 Timer, LDR
- DIAC, TRIAC, UJT
Electrical Lab:
At IST, we have an enriched electrical laboratory to learn not only the theory behind engineering but also get training to look at the practical application of that theory as well as in the practical field. Our students learn how to design an electrical circuit practically and also measure their impact as we have almost all the instruments for the experiment. We have several digital and analog power supplies, high configuration multi-meter, ammeter, voltmeter, and other electrical components like resistor, capacitor, inductor, etc. This lab includes the following instruments:

Communication Lab:
Communication, one of the most important subjects in ECE, needs proper hands-on knowledge to understand how it works in practical life. To facilitate this, we have several trainer boards consisting of ASK Mod/de Mod, FSK, PSK, etc. We are equipped with both digital and analog trainer boards to demonstrate different techniques. The lab also provides the following trainers and equipment:
- Fiber Optic Communication Trainer Board with different types of Fiber Optic Cable
- Digital Communication Trainer Board
- FSK Mod/De Mod
- Basic Communication Trainer Board
- Microwave Communication Trainer Board
- Audio System
Networking Lab:
Networking is the heart of modern life. We cannot imagine a single moment without the Internet and the internet is nothing but a network of computers connected to each other around the world. In our computer network lab, we have hundreds of high-configuration PCs with all the simulation software to simulate a real network. We also have different networking devices like Router, Access-Point (AP), etc. Our students get an incredible chance to see and work with this modern device before entering the job field. Our computer networking lab includes:

- RJ45 Cable Puncher
- RJ45 Connector
- CAT6 cable
- Wireless Access Point (WAP)
- Router

DSP Lab:
Digital Signal Processing is one of the major areas of communication engineering. Signal processing is a complex technique that needs practical insights to understand the theory properly. To assist our student, we create and continuously improve our DSP lab. Our DSP lab consists:

Microprocessor and Computer Peripheral Lab:
In this modern era, we are used to seeing output on an LCD display for example digital clock, temperature, etc. In our microprocessor and computer peripheral lab, we provide hands-on experience to our students, and they can design those modern devices in our lab. Students can learn and thrive by working with different modern lab facilities like Arduino, Raspberry PI, I/O trainer board, etc. Our up to date lab consists of:
